Wildcats place 2nd in 6-team match / Boys golf

In one of its better showings of the season, the Oak Harbor High School boys golf team finished second in a six-team match Monday, April 23, at the Whidbey Golf Club.

Meadowdale came away with the win, carding a 335. Oak Harbor and Stanwood tied for second with a 349. Marysville Getchell and Mountlake Terrace didn’t qualify for team scores.

Oak Harbor’s Nick Krantz shot a three-over 75 to take medalist honors, finishing five strokes ahead of second place Matt Cooper of Meadowdale.

Haven Brown posted an 82 for the Wildcats, while Nate Thompson had a 93, Billy Titzkowski 99 and Wyatt Bright 100.

Oak Harbor coach David Smith said the weather was “great,” the course was in “great shape” and his team “played OK.”

“Nick Krantz had a good day,” he added. “Haven had a couple bad holes on the front but was able to bring it back and shot one-over on the back. The other three just had some bad breaks but played OK over all.

“I saw some things that look good going into our next league match.”

That league match is 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Everett’s Legion Golf Course.
