Wildcats nip Falcons / Tennis

Three wins in singles helped carry the Oak Harbor High School tennis team to a 4-3 win over visiting South Whidbey Wednesday, March 20.

The Wildcats evened their record at 2-2, while the Falcons fell to 0-2.

MJ Timm came from behind to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 in first singles; Annie Salinger won 7-5, 6-1 in third singles; and Jasmine Schultz won 6-4, 6-4 in fourth singles.

Olivia Lerch and Elica Atienza squeaked out a 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 win in second doubles to collect the Wildcats’ other team point.

Sierra Brackeen lost in second singles 6-3, 6-2; Monique Stolmeier and Frances Empinado were blanked 6-0, 6-0 in first doubles; and Caitlin Dennen and Erika Polack dropped their third doubles match 6-4, 6-0.

Oak Harbor continues non-league play at Mount Vernon (1-1) at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21.
