Wildcats lose opener to EW / Tennis

The Oak Harbor High School tennis team found sunshine but not victory in a 5-2 loss to visiting Edmonds-Woodway Thursday, March 15, in the season opener.

MJ Timm (7-5, 6-2) in third singles and Taliah Black and Emily Gouge (7-6[4], 4-6, 1-0[6]) in third doubles collected the Oak Harbor wins.

The Wildcats go to Mount Vernon (0-1) at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 16, to make up a match that was rained out Tuesday.

Singles: 1, Maddie McKenzie lost 6-1, 6-0; 2, Emma Wezeman lost 6-0, 6-3; 4, Sierra Brackeen lost 6-4, 6-3.

Doubles: 1, Danielle Lonborg/Shaina Aguirre lost 6-0, 6-0; 2, Johanna Schmidt/Katrina Martinez lost 6-1, 6-0.
