Wildcats lose final home match / Soccer

Unable to concur up a little magic to collect a win in its final home match of the season, the Oak Harbor High School soccer team lost 2-0 to Snohomish Tuesday, April 23.

The Wildcats (0-13, 0-15) now have only one opportunity to pick up a win this season when they go to Arlington (4-7-1, 5-7-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 26.

Snohomish (7-3-2, 8-5-1) broke a 0-0 tie with a goal off a corner kick about 10 minutes into the second half, then the Panthers added a second score deep into the period to put away the Wildcats.

“They finished and we couldn’t,” Oak Harbor coach Jeff Laiblin said. “In the first half we had several good opportunities but couldn’t connect.”

Laiblin added that he liked how his club “kept its energy up the entire match.”

“No one likes to lose,” he said, “but we played a solid match.

“We have to change the culture, and this is a step in the right direction.”
