Wildcats, Gutierrez get 1st win / Tennis

The Oak Harbor tennis team won its season opener 5-2 at Marysville Getchell Thursday, Sept. 6, giving Tino Gutierrez a victory in his coaching debut.

Picking up points for the Wildcats were Nick Krantz (6-2, 6-4), Nathaniel Thompson (6-3, 6-1), Micah Franklin (6-4, 4-6, 6-0), Samuel Peek/Nathan Merrill (6-2, 6-1) and Ethan Snell/Kyle Brown (6-4, 3-6, 6-0).

Ezra Franklin fell 6-3, 6-3 in fourth singles, and Ridgely Briddell and Elsian Atienza lost 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 in first doubles.

The Wildcats host Meadowdale (2-0) in the home opener at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10.
