Wildcats finish sixth at Cedarcrest / Boys golf

Everett won a close battle for first and Oak Harbor placed sixth in the latest Wesco boys golf match Tuesday, March 28, at Marysville’s Cedarcrest Golf Course.

The Seagulls finished with 198 strokes over nine holes. Stanwood (202) edged Snohomish (206) and Marysville-Pilchuck (207) for second. Arlington shot 220, Oak Harbor 229 and Marysville Getchell 277.

Quinton Borseth of Stanwood led the field with a one-under 34, one shot ahead of Oak Harbor freshman Nick Krantz.

Haven Brown shot 43, Nick Whitley 46, Ryan Evans 51 and Mathew Boyd 54 for the Wildcats.

“The day was pretty good,” Oak Harbor coach David Smith said. “(The) course was a little muddy but no rain.

“Krantz had a great day with an even par round and a tie for second. Haven had two bad holes but otherwise was playing pretty well.

“I, again, saw some things I can work with, but we need to get the bad holes out of our system and start scoring a little better if we plan to compete.”

Oak Harbor plays at the Everett Invitational at noon Thursday, March 30, at Legion Memorial Golf Course.
