Wildcats fall 2-1 to unbeaten Everett / Soccer

It was a frustrating week for the Oak Harbor High School soccer team. The Wildcats, in search of their first league win, dropped a pair of heartbreaking home matches, both 2-1.

The latest setback came to one of the Western Conference’s best teams, Everett, Thursday, Sept. 28. The Seagulls upped their record to 4-0-1 (8-0-1), while the Wildcats fell to 0-6 (1-9).

Both Everett goals were set up by free kicks.

Jenna Cooley tallied for Oak Harbor on an assist from Caylie Etherington.

“The girls are playing hard and with a lot of heart,” coach Mike Lonborg said. “We just can’t catch a break.

“There’s been no give-up in them at all.”

Oak Harbor heads to Arlington (0-5, 1-7-1) for a 7:30 p.m. match Tuesday, Oct. 3.
