Wildcats eliminated at divisional tournament / Tennis

Oak Harbor High School’s four entries in the Wesco North Divisional Tennis Tournament were eliminated in the first day of competition Tuesday, May 9, at Snohomish.

Tamia Rios was the only Wildcat to pick up a win in the single-elimination first round. She topped Paige Bramer of Marysville-Pilchuck 6-1, 6-2 before losing to Everett’s Abby Affholter (6-4, 6-0) and Stanwood’s Lucy Cunningham (6-3, 7-5).

In other singles action, Aelizah Espiritu fell 6-0, 6-1 to Everett’s Melody Barnhart.

In doubles, Emma Lerch and Peyton Carlson lost 6-2, 6-1 to Everett’s Jennifer Arends and Grace Beardsley, and Emma Wezeman and Emily Brown were edged 6-7(6), 7-5, 6-2 by Arlington’s Margarita Muro and Faith Gould.
