Wildcats earn best finish / Boys golf

Posting its best finish in a Wesco North match this spring, the Oak Harbor High School boys golf team took third in the seven-school event Tuesday, April 30, at Everett’s Legion Memorial Golf Course.

Everett won with 293 strokes, and Snohomish edged Oak Harbor for second 306-310.

Oak Harbor’s No. 3 player Nate Thompson led the Wildcats for the first time this season, carding a 73, good for fourth out of 39 golfers on the 18-hole, par-68 course.

Nick Krantz, Haven Brown and Cole Valdez all shot 79, and Aidan Wyer and Wyatt Bright each shot 87.

Everett’s Ronny Kidall was medalist at 69.

Oak Harbor will compete at the Bill Egbers Invitational at 8 a.m. Friday, May 3, at the Skagit Golf and Country Club, then host the North Divisional Championships at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at the Whidbey Golf Club.
