Wildcats drop season finale / Softball

Unable to keep up the momentum of winning the day before, the Oak Harbor High School softball team dropped its season finale 16-2 in five innings to visiting Marysville-Pilchuck Tuesday, May 9.

The Wildcats won 4-2 at Stanwood Monday, but the Tomahawks exploded for 12 runs over the second and third innings to put Tuesday’s game away early.

M-P’s MJ Justice held Oak Harbor hitless until the fourth inning when Brooke Gilham led off with a double. Singles by Lyndsay Duchnowski, Audrey Howard and Cierra LeGendre pushed across the Wildcats’ two runs.

Megan Flood, who reached base twice on errors, was the only other Oak Harbor base runner in the game.

With the win, Marysville-Pilchuck (12-6, 13-7) finished in a tie for second place in the Wesco North with Everett (12-6, 13-7) behind Snohomish (18-0, 19-1).

Oak Harbor ended the season with a 2-18 record, 2-16 in Wesco play.
