Wildcats drop double-dual meet / Swimming

The Oak Harbor High School swim team dropped both ends of a double-dual meet at Shorewood High School Thursday, Jan. 19.

Host Shorecrest defeated both Oak Harbor and Mount Vernon but the same score, 101-65. Mount Vernon topped the Wildcats 83-75.

The only Wildcat to post the top time in an event was Enrique Perez, who won the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.44) and 100 free (52.19).

Bruce Vagt was second to Perez in the 200 free (2:06.68) and runner-up in the 100 backstroke (1:04.61), while Kenneth Morrow took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.57).

Vagt, Micah Franklin, Garrett Karney and Jose Cabigting captured second in the 400 free relay (4:00.73).

Oak Harbor (4-7) finishes the regular season at home against Stanwood (8-2) at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23.

Fifth: Cabigting, 200 individual medley, 2:34.32; Morrow, 50 free, 25.42.

Sixth: Karney, 500 free, 6:45.78; Franklin, 100 back, 1:09.03; 400 free relay (Pablo Closson, Alex Hartley, Cameron See, Aaron Martinez), 4:41.22.
