Wildcats compete in district tournament / Girls golf

Oak Harbor High School sophomores Natasha Decker and Danalin Matro finished 32nd and 37th respectively at the District 1 girls golf tournament Tuesday and Wednesday, May 15 and 16, at the Walter Hall Golf Course in Everett.

Decker shot a 107 in the first round, good for 32nd, and held the spot with a 101 (208 total) Wednesday.

Matro was 33rd Tuesday with a 108, then carded a 117 (225) in round two to finish in 37th.

Senior Beth Paul also competed and shot a 112 Tuesday, good for 40th but one stroke shy of making the cut. Thirty-nine of the 56 golfers from 14 schools advanced to the second day. The top 18 qualified for the state tournament.

Haley Wong of Shorewood earned medalist honors with a 154.
