White advances in national tournament / Bowling

Oak Harbor’s Victorya White made the cut at the Junior Gold National Bowling Championships this week in Dallas.

After four preliminary rounds, White, 12, sits in 16th place out of 141 in the girls 12U division. The top 21 moved on to the advancers round Friday.

From there, the best go to match play to determine the national champion.

After the first qualifying round Monday, White, the Washington state champion, was in 22nd. She dropped to 35th Tuesday, then soared to 11th Wednesday on the strength of scores of 232, 178, 179 and 190. She dipped to 16th Thursday.
