South leaders beat Oak Harbor / Softball

Edmonds-Woodway, the Wesco South leaders, topped the visiting Oak Harbor High School softball team 18-5 in five innings Monday, April 17.

The Wildcats got off to a quick start, scoring twice in the top of the first inning, but couldn’t slow the Warriors (8-1, 8-3), who scored at least three runs in each inning.

Oak Harbor started the game by loading the bases when Brooke Wilson was hit by a pitch, Brooke Gilham singled and Miranda Wilson walked. A walk to Audrey Howard forced in one run and then Lindsay Duchnowski singled in another.

The Wildcats scored a run in the third on a double by Miranda Wilson and a single by Duchnowski.

Oak Harbor’s final runs came in the fifth with the help of a single by Miranda Wilson, a walk to Howard and Shea Davis being hit by a pitch.

Cierra LeGendre added a double for the ‘Cats.

Oak Harbor (1-9, 1-11) plays Meadowdale (8-2, 9-3) at Lynnwood High School at 4 p.m. Friday, April 21.
