Short-handed Wolves almost stun King’s / Soccer

The Coupeville High School soccer team nearly upset perennial power King’s despite being a man short much of the contest Tuesday, March 19, at Mickey Clark Field.

A Wolf was ejected midway through the first period, which forced Coupeville to face the Knights with one less player the remainder of the match.

The Wolves struck first in the conference opener. Derek Leyva scored two minutes into the match, then King’s (1-0, 2-1-1) countered 10 minutes later and soon followed up with what would be the game winner.

Coupeville (0-1, 2-3) hosts Sultan (0-0, 0-4) at 6 p.m. Friday, March 22.
