Shorecrest upends Oak Harbor / Softball

Shorecrest cruised by the visiting Oak Harbor High School softball team 9-1 Friday, March 29, although it had only one more hit than the Wildcats.

The Scots (1-1, 5-3) collected seven hits to six for Oak Harbor but took advantage of six walks and an error to earn the Wesco win.

Four hits, a walk and a hit batter helped Shorecrest score five runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead.

Oak Harbor tallied its run in the fourth on base hits from Cierra LeGendre and Maddy Tucker.

Tucker finished with two singles, Sam Scott doubled and LeGendre, Ceirra Dean and Abigale Fierro each singled.

The Wildcats put the ball in play — they did not have a strikeout — but the Scots played errorless defense, including cleanly recording 15 ground outs. Shorecrest pitcher Allie Leicester did not walk a batter.

Oak Harbor (0-2, 2-6) goes to Edmonds-Woodway (0-2, 1-7) at 4 p.m. Monday, April 1.
