Scheer hits grand slam but Wildcats fall / Softball

Kaitlinn Scheer’s inside the park grand slam wasn’t quite enough and the Oak Harbor High School softball team lost 14-12 to visiting Stanwood Monday, May 7.

The Wildcats lost 15-0 in five innings in the season finale at Marysville-Pilchuck Tuesday.

Oak Harbor finished the season with a 2-16 conference record and 2-18 overall.

Stanwood (2-16, 2-18) built a 12-1 lead after two and a half innings, then the Wildcats started battling back.

It was 14-5 when Oak Harbor rallied for six runs in the sixth inning to make it 14-11. The uprising was ignited by Scheer’s big hit.

Cierra LeGendre and Sam Payne slugged triples, and Miranda Wilson, Brooke Gilham, Rylee Joseph, Eleanor Tucker and Lavinia Liatti also had hits for the Wildcats.

Marysville-Pilchuck (15-3, 17-3) scored multiple runs in every inning to pull away from the Wildcats. Brooke Wilson, Miranda Wilson, Scheer and Madelynn Tucker reached base for Oak Harbor.
