Rise Academy, Ground Zero athletes gather gold at state championships / Trampoline and tumbling

Whidbey athletes representing Oak Harbor’s Rise Academy of Arts and Mount Vernon’s Ground Zero Gymnastics collected a bushel of gold medals at the Washington State Trampoline and Tumbling Championships Saturday, March 30, at Summit Gymnastics in Maple Valley.

The athletes combined to win 20 state titles.

Next up are the regional finals in May in Santa Clara, Calif., followed by the national tournament in July in West Palm Beach, Fla.

One Oak Harbor competitor from Ground Zero participated in the Washington State Xcel Gold Championships in Kennewick Saturday.

Rise Academy of Arts Island Flyers

Leighlah Louis, Catrina Ocanas, Harmony Wertz, Arianna Hunt and Keira Smith all earned berths in the national championships with their efforts Saturday.

Here’s a rundown of the Flyers’ finishes at the state championships; the results are for overall awards:

Louis: first, Level 5 double mini and trampoline; sixth, Level 5 tumbling.

Mailee Talo: first, Level 4 double mini; second, Level 4 tumbling and trampoline.

Wertz: first, Level 7 trampoline; third, Level 5 tumbling; fourth, Level 6 double mini.

Ocanas: first, Level 6 double mini; fifth Level 5 tumbling and Level 7 trampoline.

Mackenzie Walker: first, Level 4 trampoline; third, Level 5 tumbling; sixth, Level 4 double mini.

Cassidy Gore: second, Level 5 double mini and trampoline; third, Level 5 tumbling.

Sidney Louis: second, Level 4 tumbling; fourth, Level 4 double mini; sixth, Level 4 trampoline.

Hunt: second, Level 5 trampoline; nine, Level 5 tumbling and double mini.

Smith: third, Level 5 double mini; fourth, Level 5 trampoline; ninth, Level 4 tumbling.

Rylee Burlington: third, Level 5 trampoline; fifth, Level 5 tumbling; sixth, Level 5 double mini.

Madison Walker: third, Level 6 tumbling; seventh, Level 5 double mini; eighth, Level 5 trampoline.

Rosalie Wright: fifth, Level 4 tumbling, double mini and trampoline.

Ground Zero

Ari Crist, competing in the 9-10 age group, won three state titles: Level 3 tumbling and Level 4 trampoline and double mini.

Trevor Haskins (11-12): first, Level 6 trampoline and double mini; second Level 5 tumbling.

Annalise Wesley (11-12): first, Level 2 trampoline and double mini; third, Level 3 tumbling.

Gabby Renn (11-12): first, Level 3 trampoline and Level 4 double mini; fifth, Level 3 tumbling.

Tempy Troyer (11-12): first, Level 5 double mini; second, Level 4 trampoline; third, Level 3 tumbling.

Allison Lovett (13-14): first, Level 4 tumbling; second, Level 6 double mini; fourth, Level 6 trampoline.

Izzy Renn (9-10): first, Level 3 trampoline; second, Level 3 tumbling; seventh, Level 4 double mini.

Autumn Bradby (11-12): second, Level 4 double mini; fifth, Level 4 trampoline and Level 5 tumbling.

Ground Zero Xcel

Jordyn Lovett (Senior D) qualified for the Xcel regional championships at the end of April in Monroe by finishing fifth in bars (9.35), eighth in vault (9), 16th in beam (8.475), 16th in floor (8.9) and 12th overall (35.725) at the state championships.
