Oak Harbor’s Timm receives WIAA honor

Oak Harbor High School senior tennis player MJ Timm was named the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association 3A female player of the week.

Timm, who is 5-0 in conference play as the Wildcats’ No. 1 singles player, won twice last week to earn the honor. She won 6-2, 6- 4 against Marysville-Pilchuck and then followed that with a 6-1, 6-3 win against Everett.

The award, which is sponsored by Wendy’s, is granted each week throughout the school year to varsity athletes from each of the six classifications who exhibit outstanding performances the previous week (based on nominations). Each winner receives a letter of recognition from the WIAA Executive Director, a commemorative WIAA/Wendy’s Athlete of the Week promotional item and a certificate. .
