Oak Harbor takes 3rd / Cross country

The Oak Harbor High School boys and girls cross country teams each placed third in a four-team meet at Ballinger Park Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Snohomish won the boys meet with 31 points, followed by Lake Stevens (46), Oak Harbor (55) and host Mountlake Terrace (99).

Lake Stevens captured the girls race with 23 points, while Snohomish earned 39, Oak Harbor 66 and Mountlake Terrace 109.

A junior varsity boys race was held as well, and the Wildcats followed the same pattern as the varsity teams, taking third with 80 points. Lake Stevens had 26, Snohomish 32 and Terrace 115.

Oak Harbor’s Dallas Riddle-Stevens, in his first race of the season, won the varsity boys event with a time of 13:57.8 over the 4,466-meter course. Cooper Billiter was ninth (14:38.6), Ryan Metz 12th (14:54.6), Jacob Pearson 15th (15:01.9) and Brandon Parham 18th (15:11.6).

Freshman Adrienne Root led the Oak Harbor girls, taking fifth in 17:30.4. She was trailed by Natalie French (11th, 18:19.3), Evelyn Osburn (13th, 18:46.5), Courtney VanGiesen (19th, 19:28.4) and Sonja Wichmann (28th, 20:34).

Snohomish’s Ellie Baxter finished first in 16:33.2.

Riley Williamson led the Wildcat JV’s by getting eighth in 16:26.7.

Oak Harbor hosts its only home meet of the season when Jackson, Mount Vernon and Stanwood gather with the Wildcats at Windjammer Park at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3.
