Oak Harbor opens postseason with three wins in four games / Youth football

The Oak Harbor youth football program started the postseason with a strong effort Saturday as three of four local teams won at Fort Nugent Park.

The winners move on to the semifinals. The Oak Harbor Senior (noon) and Midget (6 p.m.) teams play Saturday, Nov. 5, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium; the Pee Wee team plays at 9 a.m. at Mount Vernon High School.

Lakewood Gold 20, OH Gold Midgets 14

Oak Harbor received touchdowns from Taiis Hardin and Brody Snyder.

OH Purple Pee Wee 25, Sedro-Woolley 20

Jaylin Nixon scored four touchdowns to lead the Purples to the narrow win.

Oak Harbor Seniors 49, Anacortes 6

Undefeated Oak Harbor won behind four touchdown passes by Cameron Asinsin, three to Landon Cantrell, who also returned a kickoff for a TD.

Bennett Andersen had a pick-six, and Jaden Brown, Malachi Rainey and Caden Leckelt added touchdowns for Oak Harbor.

OH Purple Midgets 39, Burlington 0

Oak Harbor jumped on Burlington immediately, scoring on its first drive. Ka’imi Asinsin led the onslaught with four touchdowns; Tristan Gallaway and Gabe Verdin each tacked on another. The defense received strong efforts from Aiden Finley and Skyler Summers.
