Oak Harbor nabs 3rd in Wesco North tournament / Boys golf

The Oak Harbor High School boys golf team placed third in the Wesco North championship match Thursday, May 9, at the Whidbey Golf Club.

The Wildcats shot 331, finishing behind Everett (318) and Snohomish (326) in the seven-team meet.

Oak Harbor’s Aidan Wyer finished third in the individual standings out of 40 with a seven-over 79. Everett’s Andrew Olson and Andrew Martin tied for first just one stroke ahead of Wyer.

Nick Krantz shot 83, Nate Thompson 84, Cole Valdez 85, Haven Brown 86 and Wyatt Bright 100.

In the overall team standings based on points compiled throughout the league season, Oak Harbor tied for fourth with Stanwood. Everett took the title.

Wyer, Krantz, Thompson, Valdez and Brown all qualified for the district tournament at 11 a.m. Monday and Tuesday, May 13 and 14, at the Avalon Golf Course.
