Oak Harbor falls to late Sedro-Woolley surge / Babe Ruth baseball

After failing to score over the first three innings, the Sedro-Woolley Babe Ruth baseball team piled up 13 runs over the next three to beat Oak Harbor 13-2 in six innings Thursday, May 25, at Clover Valley Park.

Oak Harbor scored in the first inning and held the 1-0 lead until the fourth when the Outlaws plated three runs to begin pulling away.

The Wildcats’ first-inning run came after Kyto Morrow singled and moved around on a series of stolen bases and passed balls.

The only other Oak Harbor run came in the fourth. Cody Duchnowski walked and scored on John Blankman’s double.

Blankman was also the Wildcats’ starting pitcher, limiting the Outlaws to two hits until fourth inning.

The Wildcats struck out only three times but couldn’t get the balls they put in play to fall in for many base hits.

In addition to Blankman’s double, Morrow had two singles and Gage McLeod and Will Rankin had one each.

Oak Harbor’s game Tuesday, May 23, with Sedro-Woolley was originally submitted as a 3-3 tie; however, Oak Harbor won that game 7-4.

Oak Harbor (4-7-1) hosts a doubleheader with the Mount Vernon Diamond Dogs at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at Clover Valley Park.
