Oak Harbor boys, girls both 2nd in latest meet / Cross country

Glacier Peak was nearly perfect twice and Oak Harbor nipped Lynnwood for second in both the boys and girls events at a four-team cross country meet Thursday, Sept. 27, at Everett’s McCollum Park.

The scores in the two meets were almost identical.

Glacier Peak won the boys meet with 18 points, followed by Oak Harbor (61), Lynnwood (62) and host Archbishop Murphy (116).

The Grizzlies won the girls meet with a perfect score of 15 by placing runners in the top five spots. Oak Harbor scored 59, Lynnwood 62 and Archbishop Murphy 115.

GP’s Riley McDowell won the 5,000-meter boys race in 17:37. Teammate Aviry Stratton captured the girls race in 19:42.

Oak Harbor was led by Alex Smith, who took sixth in the girls race (20:42), and Ralph Ramier, who was ninth in the boys race (18:36).

The Wildcats, Edmonds-Woodway, Lynnwood, Shorewood and host Cascade run at McCollum Park at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3.
