Oak Harbor begins season with loss / Tennis

The Oak Harbor High School tennis team was blanked in its first match of 2019, losing 7-0 at Meadowdale Wednesday, March 13.

It was the second shutout win for the Mavericks, who defeated Lynnwood 6-0 Monday.

The Wildcats (0-1) play their home opener at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 18, against Stanwood (0-0).

Oak Harbor’s home match with South Whidbey scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, was rained out and rescheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20.

Singles: 1, MJ Timm lost 6-1, 6-3; 2, Annie Salinger lost 6-3, 7-6(7-2); 3, Jasmine Schultz lost 6-0, 6-4; 4, Frances Empinado lost 6-1, 6-4.

Doubles: 1, Olivia Lerch/Monique Stolmeier lost 6-0, 6-1; 2, Elicia Atienza/Lilianna Oldenhof lost 6-0, 6-1; 3, Caitlin Dennon/Erika Polack lost 6-1, 6-2.
