North Whidbey eliminated at district tournament / 8-10 baseball

The North Whidbey Little League 8-10 all-star team dropped both its games in the District 11 tournament in Sedro-Woolley this weekend and was eliminated.

Sedro-Woolley used a 12-run fourth inning to take control its 19-0 win over North Whidbey Saturday.

North Whidbey had only one base runner (a walk to Tristan Hamblin) until the fourth inning. In the fourth, Nick Shashaty walked, Trevor Sadler singled and Brayden Burn walked to load the bases, but North Whidbey was denied when David Smith’s line shot to the third baseman was caught, ending the threat.

South Whidbey fought off several North Whidbey comebacks to win 29-11 Sunday.

North Whidbey fell behind 14-0 early but rallied for seven runs to get back into the game but couldn’t get any closer.

“North Whidbey would like to thank all the all stars, the league, the tournament director and mostly the parents for all the time and commitment put into this all-star season,” North Whidbey coach Marsha Smith said.
