Mount Vernon tops Oak Harbor / Tennis

Two wins in singles was all the Oak Harbor High School tennis team could muster in a 5-2 loss to visiting Mount Vernon Friday, Sept. 8.

Nathanael Thompson was leading 4-1 in the first set of first singles when his opponent retired because of an injury. Ryan Mene took fourth singles 7-5, 6-3.

The Wildcats (1-2) start conference action at 3:30 p.m. when Marysville Getchell (0-1) travels to Oak Harbor Monday, Sept. 11.

Other Oak Harbor results against Mount Vernon:

Singles: 2, John Bird lost 6-0, 6-0; 3, Claude Thrailkill lost 6-2, 6-3.

Doubles: Trenton Cone/Jhaylan Munger lost 6-3, 6-3; 2, Ridgely Briddell/Sam Peek lost 6-4, 6-3; 3, Edison Soliman/Nick Krantz lost 6-4, 6-4.
