M-P powers past Wildcats / Softball

Marysville-Pilchuck got rolling early and never looked back in a 23-7 win over the visiting Oak Harbor High School softball team Monday, April 10.

The Tomahawks (4-2, 5-3) took advantage of 12 Wildcat errors to cruise to the easy win.

After M-P scored eight runs in the first inning, Oak Harbor jumped back into the game with a five-run second.

The Wildcats combined two hits by Brooke Wilson and another by Eleanor Tucker, walks to Brooke Gilham and Miranda Wilson and errors off the bats of Lyndsay Duchnowski and Taylor Wilson to produce the five runs.

The Tomahawks, however, put the game away with 13 runs in their half of the inning.

In the third inning, Oak Harbor scored on a double by Gilham and single by Cierra LeGendre.

The Wildcats collected their final run in the fifth when Taylor Wilson was hit by a pitch and eventually scored on an error.

Oak Harbor (1-6, 1-8) entertains Lynnwood (2-3, 3-5) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 11.
