Late runs lift Spartans by Oak Harbor / Softball

A late surge by Stanwood helped the Spartans defeat the visiting Oak Harbor High School softball team 9-7 Friday, March 30.

Stanwood picked up its first win of the season behind the efforts of Emmy Tuffey. Tuffey earned the pitching win and provided three hits on offense.

Oak Harbor jumped to a 4-0 lead, then Stanwood scored five times in the bottom of the second inning. The Wildcats regained the lead with three runs in the fourth inning but couldn’t hold the advantage.

The Spartans (1-5, 1-7) tallied a run in the fifth to make it 7-6, then secured the game with a three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

No individual Oak Harbor details were submitted.

Oak Harbor (1-6, 1-8) travels to Lynnwood (1-4, 1-7) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 10.
