Klahowya continues to rule Olympic League / Soccer

The Klahowya Secondary School soccer team looks like the team to beat again in the Olympic League 1A division.

The Eagles (3-0, 3-1-1), gunning for their fourth straight conference title, whipped the Wolves 5-0 Saturday, March 24, at Mickey Clark Field.

Coupeville hung around for the first half, then Klahowya struck for four second-half goals to secure the win.

“We had a number of good opportunities and played pretty much even with them, only conceding a counter-attack goal late in the half,” Coupeville coach Kyle Nelson said about the opening period.

“The second half did not go as well,” he added. “Klahowya came out a little more aggressive in the second half and we didn’t match it. The boys pretty much ran out of gas.

“But, we did see that we can play with them, we just need to do it for the full game. I will be looking forward to our rematch with them; I know we can do better.”

The two teams meet again April 16 in Silverdale and return to Coupeville April 30.

The Wolves (1-1, 2-2-1) go to Port Townsend (1-1, 1-4) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 27.
