JV, freshman athletes compete in Classic / Track

The younger members of the Oak Harbor High School track team received a chance to take center stage when the Wildcats hosted the North Sound Classic Tuesday, May 2.

The meet was for junior varsity and freshmen athletes from Oak Harbor, Stanwood, Marysville-Pilchuck and Marysville Getchell.

The Oak Harbor freshman boys took first with 47 points, followed by Marysville-Pilchuck (31), Marysville Getchell (28) and Stanwood (18).

The Wildcat JV boys scored 34 points, good for second to Stanwood at 45. Getchell finished with 22 and M-P 19.

Stanwood also won the JV girls division, topping Oak Harbor (43), Getchell (22) and Marysville-Pilchuck (7).

Marysville Getchell won the freshman girls division with 70 points, easily outdistancing Stanwood (21), Oak Harbor (17) and M-P (16).

Dallas Riddle-Stevens paced the Oak Harbor freshman boys by winning three events (800, 2:27.06; 1,600, 5:02.71; 3,200, 11:09.32).

Gabriel Daggett won twice (110 hurdles, 18.66; 300 hurdles, 47.66), and Nathaniel Nuanez added another first for the Wildcat freshmen (shot put, 35-07).

Four Oak Harbor boys took first in the JV division: Josh Stone (1,600, 5:14.9), Dylan Sanchez (3,200, 13:03.98), Aaron Fletcher (110 hurdles, 19.42) and Keegan Daniels (discus, 99-05).

Naomi Garcia was a double winner for the Oak Harbor JV girls (400, 1:10; pole vault, 7). Others taking first were Isabel Thayer (shot put, 23-08), Aujani Frye (discus, 65-06) and Chloe Kubisiak (javelin, 67-03).

Maria Dailey collected the only win for the Oak Harbor freshman girls (100, 13.81).

The Oak Harbor varsity track team competes at the Stanwood Twilight Invitational at 4 p.m. Friday, May 5.
