Eagles soar by Wolves / Baseball

Big bookend innings carried the visiting Klahowya Secondary School to a 15-4 win in six innings over the Coupeville baseball team Monday, May 1.

The Eagles (8-0, 10-4) remained unbeaten in Olympic League play and dethroned the defending champion Wolves with a three-game season sweep.

Klahowya scored nine runs in the first inning and six in the last on the way to he one-sided win.

Coupeville scored one run in the first and three in the second then had only two base runners the rest of the way.

In the first, Taylor Consford tripled and scored on Clay Reilly’s groundout.

In the second, singles by Kory Score and Matt Hilborn, a walk to Consford, an error off the bat of Ethan Marx and a double by Hunter Smith combined to get the three runs.

Coupeville (5-3, 10-8) wraps up league play at Port Townsend (0-7, 0-12) at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, then the regular season with a non-league game at South Whidbey (11-8) at 4 p.m. Thursday.
