Course for boating card offered

America’s Boating Course, hosted by the Deception Pass Sail and Power Squadron, will be offered Saturdays, Sept. 30 and Oct. 7, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Oak Harbor.

Successful completion of this two-day course will qualify individuals for the Washington State Boater Education Card now required for most boaters.

The cost is $50 per student. The fee for a second student sharing a book is $20.

The course, which will run 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day, will cover boat handling, safety considerations, federal and state equipment and safety requirements and the nautical rules of the road.
