Coupeville drops season opener / Tennis

It wasn’t a win, but at least the Coupeville High School tennis team finally had the opportunity to play a match.

The Wolves lost 4-1 to visiting King’s Wednesday, March 27.

The tennis team was the last Coupeville spring sport to get started; the soccer team has already played seven matches and baseball and softball teams six each.

The Wolves’ first doubles team of Avalon Renninger and Tia Wurzrainer collected Coupeville’s point, winning 6-2, 6-3.

The Wolves will have to wait nearly two weeks to play match No. 2 when they meet Port Angeles at 4 p.m. Monday, April 8, at Chimacum.

That will begin a string of three matches in four days.
