Coupeville drops first match / Tennis

The team score was close by the individual matches, for the most part, were not in Coupeville’s 4-3 tennis loss to visiting Port Angeles in the season opener Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Coupeville’s Zach Ginnings and Drake Borden won a tight battle in fourth doubles 7-5; all of the other victors picked up straight-set wins.

The Wolves (0-1) head to Sequim for another non-league match at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11.

Singles: Nick Etzell lost 6-1, 6-2; 2, Jakobi Baumann lost 6-3, 6-1; 3, Mason Grove won 6-4, 6-0.

Doubles: 1, Joey Lippo/William Nelson won 6-1, 6-2; 2, Pedro Gamarra/Nile Lockwood lost 6-4, 6-3; 3, Jaschon Baumann/Tiger Johnson lost 6-1, 6-1; 4, Zach Ginnings/Drake Borden won 7-5.
