Coupeville can’t hold early lead / Boys basketball

Turnovers spoiled a good start by the Coupeville High School boys basketball team and the Wolves lost 49-30 to visiting Bush Saturday, Dec. 1.

Coupeville zipped to an 11-8 lead, then the miscues began to mount.

Bush outscored the Wolves 11-4 in the second quarter to lead 19-15 at halftime, and then outscored Coupeville 15-9 in the third period to push its lead to 34-24.

In the third quarter, the Blazers’ Kai Osaka hit three three-point shots and scored 11 points to fuel Bush’s big second half.

Osaka finished with a game-high 26 points.

Sean Toomey-Stout led Coupeville with 12 points. Hawthorne Wolfe added 6, Ulrik Wells 5, Mason Grove 3, Gavin Knoblich 2 and Koa Davison 2.
