‘Cats suffer tough-luck loss / Soccer

Despite dominating the second half, the Oak Harbor High School soccer team couldn’t overcome two first-half miscues and lost 2-1 at Lynnwood Tuesday, Sept. 18.

“Two little mistakes got us down 2-0 at halftime,” Oak Harbor coach Mike Lonborg said. “(In the) second half we dominated possession by a large margin.

“(The) girls played with more intensity and it showed.”

Peyton Rhyne tallied the Wildcats’ goal with help from Tiana Jackson and Jessica Vester.

“We had lots of chances,” Lonborg said. “(The) ball just wouldn’t go in the net. We hit the crossbar twice but no luck.”

Oak Harbor (0-4, 2-4) plays Edmonds-Woodway (4-0, 5-1) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.
