Bulldogs nip Oak Harbor / Swim and dive

Mount Vernon won the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, to edge the Oak Harbor High School swim and dive team 86-84 at the Skagit Valley YMCA Tuesday, Sept. 26.

The Wildcats won only three of 11 events but led most of the meet by grabbing seven seconds and eight thirds.

Jillian Pape (100 butterfly, 1:09.51) and Ashleigh Merrill (100 free, 1:00.7) each won individual events, and Naomi Garcia, Grace Chargualaf, Scout Powell and Caitlin Dennen captured the 200 free relay (2:05.95).

Oak Harbor (3-3) hosts Monroe (4-2) at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9.
