Blue Heron pile up PRs at Richmond / NWAC

It was a weekend for personal records by the North Whidbey Aquatic Club at the West Coast Open in Richmond, B.C., May 13 and 14.

Nine Blue Heron raced in a combined 46 events and earned long-course PRs in each.

Swimmers from all over Western Canada plus another 100 from Washington participated, according to NWAC coach Dick Taylor.

Ribbons were awarded the top eight finishers in each event, and Lindsay Brown, 11, dominated her division with four wins and two fourth-place finishes. Brown’s time of 3:06.52 in the 200-meter breaststroke is third-best all-time among NWAC swimmers in her age group.

Taylor named Brown NWAC’s Swimmer of the Meet.

Kiersten Tyson, 11, picked up a second and two fifths, while Lola Chargualaf, 11, grabbed a sixth, seventh and eighth.

Caitlin Dennen, 13, finished eighth twice, and Lecya Santiago, 12, claimed a fourth.

Haley Borja, 9 and swimming in the 11-and-under division, collected a fifth.
