Three local athletes compete in soccer tournament in Spain

Three Oak Harbor athletes recently competed in the prestigious Donosti Cup Soccer Tournament in San Sebastian, Spain.

Gavin Stewart, 14, Caley Powers, 14, and Dakota Powers, 13, competed in Spain with the Northwest United B95 Red based out of Burlington. During the regular season this team plays in the state's highest youth level, Division I.

The NWU B95 won their group in preliminary games in San Sebastian and played competitively throughout the Donosti Cup. Skagit Valley's Gary Warman has taken teams to Europe since 1990 and this is the first time one of the local clubs has won a game.

The NWU B95, which is coached by Noal Cook, also won the BU15 Gold Division championship at the Skagit River Cup in May and finished second at the Skagit Firecracker Tournament in June.
