Tennis: Rico, Abadesco net sixth in state doubles tournament

Senior Laurin Rico and junior Clarissa Abadesco teamed up to finish sixth in the state 4A tennis doubles tournament in Kennewick this weekend.
The Oak Harbor pair lost in the opening round 6-3, 6-0 to Sierra Southworth and Maria Bahlenhorst of Tahoma.
They rebounded to defeat Lauren Lang and Mina Park of Federal Way 6-1, 6-3.
In the third round Rico and Abadesco dropped the first set 6-3 to Tiana Cummings and Presley Peck of Walla Walla, but grabbed the next two, 6-4, 6-2, to advance.
Amanda Walton and Michelle Nelson, the Northwest District champions from Edmonds-Woodway who defeated the Wildcat duo a week ago, won again 6-1, 6-2 in the match for fourth place.
