Track: Coupeville's King wins state 1,600

Coupeville’s Tyler King captured the state championship in the 1,600 at the 1A meet at Eastern Washington University today, May 28.

King took the title with time of 4:24.54, nipping Lakeside’s Colton Berry (4:24.92) and King’s Hap Emmons (4:25.52).

Later today he will run a preliminary heat of the 800 and the 4x400 relay with Chase Bates, Will Hoskins and Mitch Pelroy.

Should he qualify, King will run in the finals of the 800 and 4x400 tomorrow. He will also run in the 3,200 finals.

Teammate Hunter Hammer will compete in the shot put finals tomorrow.
