Tennis: Oak Harbor pair splits matches at district

Oak Harbor's doubles team of Laurin Rico and Clarissa Abadesco remains alive in the Northwest District 1 tennis tournament at Jackson.

The Wildcat pair won their opening match 6-2, 6-0 over Daril and Karla Perez of Mariner, but lost in the semifinals to Amanda Waldron and Michelle Nelson of Edmonds-Woodway 6-2, 6-0 yesterday, May 19.

Today, May 20, Rico and Clarissa will continue play in the consolation bracket.

Oak Harbor's other two entries, singles players Erin Neilon and Cady O'Dell, dropped both their matches and were eliminated.

Neilon lost to Edmonds-Woodway's Jane Hong 2-6, 6-3, 2-6 and Kamiak's Alyssa Gilbert 2-6, 4-6.

O'Dell was defeated by Mackenzie Bang of Shorewood 6-7(3), 2-6 and Annie Yank of Kamiak 2-6, 4-6.
