Girls golf: Oak Harbor's entire team makes district cut

All six Oak Harbor golfers made the cut after the first round of the girls Northwest District 1 tournament at the Gallery Golf Course Tuesday, May 18.

The field will be trimmed to 40 for the second round, Thursday, May 20. Fifteen girls will qualify for the state tournament next Tuesday and Wednesday, May 25 and 26, at Pasco’s Sun Willows Golf Course.

After the first round, two Oak Harbor golfers are among the top 15. Ashley Johnson, with a round of 93, is sixth, and Simone Hamilton, with a 97, is tied for eighth.

Millie Goebel and Sasha Olson are just one stroke out of the state qualifying group in 16th with 100s. Melany Cone sits in 24th (103) and Mara Cortez is 38th (114).

The second round of district starts at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at the Gallery.
