Track: Oak Harbor's Young, Coupeville's King win at league meets

Oak Harbor's Shantae Young and Coupeville's Tyler King each won on the first day of their respective league track meets Wednesday, May 12.
Each league, Oak Harbor's Western Conference North and Coupeville's Cascade Conference, held the finals in several events and preliminaries in most Wednesday. The majority of the events will conclude Friday, May 14: the Wesco North at 5 p.m. at Arlington and the Cascade Conference at Cedarcrest at 3:30.
Young led a strong Wildcat showing in the long jump with a winning effort of 17-4. Nicole Mowbray finished second (15-11.5) and Naomi Walker fifth (15-04.5).
King won the 1,600 in 4:21.99; teammate Hunter Hammer was sixth in the discus in 125-02.
Oak Harbor's Donovan Hunt was third in the long jump (21-03.75) and Cody Hernkind tied for eighth in the high jump (5-6).
