Fastpitch: Coupeville begins playoffs today, May 13

The Coupeville fastpitch team opens sub-district play today, May 13, at 4 p.m. at home against Meridian.

The winner of the CHS-Meridian (2-17) game will advance to Saturday's play, May 15, at noon at Sedro-Woolley's Janiki Fields.

The Wolves ended the regular season by losing to visiting Lakewood 13-5 Wednesday, May 12.

Coach Denny Zylstra said, "We hit the ball well, we just couldn't catch it."

The Wolves (1-17, 2-18) committed seven errors in the loss.

Offensively, Coupeville received strong efforts from Bessie Walstad (3-for-4, double, two RBI), Becca Armstrong (2-for-4) and Roxy Piechowski (2-for-3, run, double).
