The Coupeville fastpitch team put up a battle but lost 8-5 at Cedarcrest Monday, May 10.
The Wolves held a 5-3 lead going into the bottom of the fourth inning, but Cedarcrest (10-6, 10-7) rallied for four runs and held on for the win.
Coupeville (0-15, 1-16) played a strong defensive game and committed just three errors. Errors have sabotaged the Wolves all season.
Coach Denny Zylstra said, "It was a huge improvement. We were competitive with them."
Taylor Lawson slugged two doubles, Grace LaPoint a triple and Katie Smith two singles to lead the offense.
Coupeville closes out the regular season Wednesday, May 12, at home with Lakewood at 4 p.m.
The Wolves will start sub-district with a home play-in game with Meridian (2-17) Thursday, May 13, at 4 p.m. If Coupeville wins, it will play at noon and 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Janiki Fields in Sedro-Woolley.
