Fastpitch: South Whidbey wins rivalry game

Rival South Whidbey whipped the Wolves 12-1 in a five-inning game on the Coupeville fastpitch diamond Friday, May 7.
The Wolves now face a busy week as the season winds down.
Monday, May 10, Coupeville heads to Cedarcrest (9-6, 9-7). Tuesday, it gets back on the bus to journey to Sultan (3-11, 3-12) for a makeup double header. Wednesday, Lakewood (6-11, 7-11) visits at 4 p.m. for the final regular season game.
The sub-district play-in game is slated for Thursday or Friday.
In the loss to South Whidbey, the Wolves picked up only two hits, singles by Katie Smith and Becca Armstrong.
Smith scored Coupeville's lone run in the first on a wild pitch.
Five of the Falcons' 12 runs were unearned as the Wolves committed five errors.
South Whidbey put the game away with a seven-run second inning.
