The Coupeville fastpitch team fell to the league's top two teams, losing 7-3 at Archbishop Murphy Friday, April 30, and to visiting Granite Falls 13-0 Monday, May 3.
In the loss to the second-place Wildcats (10-4, 11-5), the Wolves committed three errors in the first inning that helped ATM score four runs.
Coach Denny Zylstra said, "It's not just the physical errors, but we are making mental errors as well."
Katie Smith, Alexis Trumbull and Taylor Lawson rapped singles to lead the CHS offense.
Granite Falls' pitcher Alyssa Arndt just missed a perfect game in Monday's contest; an error by her second baseman allowed the only Coupeville base runner in the five-inning game.
Although the Tigers (14-0, 15-0) racked up 13 runs, Zylstra said Maria Rockwell threw a good game. She was hurt by six errors and eight unearned runs.
Coupeville (0-12, 1-13) plays a double header at Sultan (3-8, 3-9) Wednesday, May 5, and then plays South Whidbey (6-6, 6-7) at home Friday at 4 p.m.
