The Coupeville girls tennis team completed its three-match series sweep of Friday Harbor by edging the host Wolverines 3-2 Saturday, May 1.
The two teams meet again this Saturday, May 8, in Coupeville for the district tournament.
No. 1 singles player Julia Sierra Castaño finished the regular season undefeated by defeating Rebecca Leff 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. Leff’s second set win was the first set Castaño dropped this season.
In No. 1 doubles, Jordan Akins and Jessica Blanchette won 6-3, 6-4 over Friday Harbor’s best doubles players. The Coupeville pair faced different combinations in the first two matches.
Lexi Blanchette and Marie Hesselgrave took No. 2 doubles 6-1, 6-1. It was a strong finish for the season for the pair who will not be able to compete at district because of scheduling conflicts.
